A photographic portrait is a picture of someone who knows he is being photographed.  — Richard Avedon I feel every picture I take of a person who knows he is being photographed is a portrait, much like Richard Avedon mused long before my time.  The time has passed for where I categorize my portraits into fashion, glamor, fitness, etc to me it is all about the person.   To that effect, famed fashion photographer Inez van Lamsweerde once said, “a fashion picture is a portrait in itself, always.”  She went on to say even though her photographs are used for different genres she looks at each photoshoot as she is photographing humanity.  She is trying to find unique characteristics in each of her subjects.  I have adopted a very similar approach to her in my environmental portrait photography.  So in this gallery of portraits you will find pictures running the gamut of environmental portraits; however, in each photo I will strive to find what is unique in each person as I photograph them.
